2.4 Case: Cases shall be fabricated of either metal or plastic. Metal cases shall have a durable, corrosion-resistant finish. Plastic cases shall be molded of materials that resist chipping, cracking and discoloration in everyday use. All cases shall have transparent crystals of either glass or plastic. Cases shall be designed to prevent the entry of dust as much as is practical. Openings shall be limited to those required for winding, setting and adjusting the mechanism.

2.5 Dial: When the dial is other than metal, it shall be securely fastened or held to the clock case base in such a manner as to prevent warming, buckling or irregularities in appearance or positive fit. The dial shall have Arabic numbers and minute marks on a contrasting background for the purpose of indicating the time and the setting of the alarm.

2.6 Operation: The movement of the clock shall run without objectionable noise and shall operate for not less than 30 hours on one complete winding. Each shall be equipped with a regulator for rate adjustment.

2.7 Alarm: The clock shall have a loud alarm and the movement shall be so constructed that the alarm will sound continuously or intermittently, at the option of the contractor, for at least 18 seconds. Tolerance between the alarm time setting and the striking of the gong shall be +/- 5 minutes. Manual turn-on, turn-off and setting mechanism for the alarm, with an alarm time indicator, shall be incorporated in the clock.

2.8 Workmanship: The clock shall be free from any defects which may impair its appearance, durability, and serviceability.

2.9 WARRANTY: Clocks shall be warranted by the contractor for parts and labor for two years from date of delivery to the government.

3. REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

The offeror/contractor is encouraged to use recovered materials to the maximum extent practicable, in accordance with paragraph 23.4303 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
