COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
CLOCK, ALARM (GENERAL PURPOSE)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE:
This commercial item description covers hand-wound, spring-driven alarm clocks for shelf or table use. They shall be furnished in the following dial face diameters (sizes), as specified:
Size l -7.6 centimeters
Size II -10.0 centimeters
2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS:
2.1 Materials: The materials used shall be of sufficient strength and durability to ensure that the clocks are securely and sturdily constructed and will remain usable over the normal life of the clock. Any metals used shall be corrosion resistant or treated to resist corrosion of any type, consistent with their normal functioning. The crystal material shall be clear, non-yellowing, non-breakable and not easily scratched.
2.2 Movements: All movements shall be of superior quality as to materials and workmanship. Gears shall be of clock brass, steel, nylon, aluminum alloy or laminated phenolic material. Fiber gears are not acceptable. All pivots shall be smoothly finished to insure rigidity and shall be force fit on the shafts.
2.3 Tolerances: Tolerances on dial face diameters shall be +/- 0.5 cm.
